KeepSaiQ vs Remento: one storyteller's book, or the whole family's voices

Remento is a paid service for one storyteller: a weekly prompt arrives by email or text, they record from any device, and a hardcover book follows with a QR code on each story that plays the original recording. The first year costs $99, with one storyteller and one book. KeepSaiQ is a private family archive where everyone you invite adds short voice recordings and photos. It has no printed book, a free plan, and one price per family: $99 a year or $11.99 a month. The key difference is a finished book about one person versus an archive the whole family keeps adding to.

Pricing

Prices verified on 2026-10-25. Remento figures come from its own help center and FAQ, linked in the last column. Check them before you buy; prices change.

A worked example: three storytellers on Remento is $99 plus two extra storytellers at $99 each, so $297 in the first year. That $297 includes three printed books. KeepSaiQ's $99 includes no books. If you want the books, the Remento price buys something KeepSaiQ does not sell.

Where Remento is better

The printed book. Remento delivers a hardcover with a QR code on each story that plays the person's original recording, so a grandchild can hold the book and hear the voice. KeepSaiQ prints nothing. For a gift that someone can unwrap, Remento is the better purchase.

A defined result. One storyteller, one year, one book gives the project an end, and projects with an end get finished more often than open-ended ones.

Nothing to install for the storyteller. Prompts arrive by email or text and the answer is recorded in a browser, which suits a parent who will not set up an app.

Longer stories. Remento allows up to 30 minutes per recording. KeepSaiQ is built around answers of about twenty seconds.

Switching, or using both

Step 1. Before your Remento year ends, download your text, PDF and audio from the Remento dashboard, and order the book if you want it.

Step 2. Create a family in KeepSaiQ for free and invite the relatives who should record. They need an email address, or a Google or Apple login.

Step 3. Have each person record their first short answer. A new recording takes about twenty seconds.

Step 4. Keep the Remento exports as your backup. We do not claim an automatic import from Remento, so treat KeepSaiQ as where new stories go.

Plenty of families will not need to switch: a Remento book about one parent and a KeepSaiQ archive for everyone else do different jobs.
