KeepSaiQ vs Storyworth: a book from weekly questions, or an archive of the family's voices

Storyworth is a paid service that sends one person a question each week by email or text, collects the answers, and prints a hardcover book. Plans are $69 (black-and-white book), $99 (full-color book) and $199 (two color books and unlimited storytellers). KeepSaiQ is a private family archive of short voice recordings and photos that everyone you invite adds to. It has a free plan, Family at $99 a year or $11.99 a month, and no printed book. The key difference is a finished book about one person versus an archive that keeps going and holds the whole family.

Pricing

The $99 Storyworth Color plan and a year of KeepSaiQ Family cost the same, but they buy different things: Storyworth's includes a printed color book and KeepSaiQ's includes no book.

Where Storyworth is better

The book. A bound hardcover at the end of the year is a gift that someone can hold, and Storyworth does it at $69 for a black-and-white edition. KeepSaiQ prints nothing.

Structure. A fresh question every week, drawn from 500+ questions, gives a reluctant storyteller something specific to answer. That rhythm is why many people finish.

Phone interviews. Higher plans include guided calls where Storyworth asks follow-up questions and turns the conversation into a story. KeepSaiQ does not phone anyone.

Group books. Storyworth Celebrations lets many people contribute to one book, free to start and paid per book.

Switching, or using both

Step 1. Finish or pause your Storyworth year. From Manage Account, choose Download all your stories to get a ZIP of PDFs and images, or download the book interior as a PDF.

Step 2. Create a family in KeepSaiQ for free and invite the relatives who should record.

Step 3. Ask each person for a first twenty-second answer, spoken rather than written.

Step 4. Keep the Storyworth download as your backup. We do not claim an automatic import from Storyworth, so treat KeepSaiQ as where new stories go.

Many families do both: a Storyworth book about one grandparent and a KeepSaiQ archive for everyone. The existing StoryWorth alternative guide covers when each shape fits.
